Blog Name: Jazz 88.3 Library Blog - New This WeekAuthor: Posted on: September 9, 2013
Drummers leading bands, Polish Jazz Musicians, dogs sleeping with cats, fire and brimstone, mass destruction...wait...not so much that last stuff, but all of that and MORE in the Adds to the Jazz 88 Music Library this week. You can hear them all debuted LIVE, as you can each week, on The New Jazz Thing @Jazz88 with Vince Outlaw, Monday, September 9, 2013, 6-8 PM PT! Before all hell brakes loose (and you see the full list after the split), here's sly exposer Nick Hempton and a taste of his new disc "Odd Man Out"...

WILL BERNARD – “JUST LIKE DOWNTOWN” (Guitarist, leading an organ-based quartet, doing straight-ahead mostly originals).

RANDY BRECKER / WLODEK PAWLIK – “NIGHT IN CALISA” (Trumpeter, backed by Polish musicians and orchestra, playing straight-ahead originals).

NICK HEMPTON – “ODD MAN OUT” (Saxophonist, leading a quintet, in a collection of straight-ahead mostly originals).

DAVE KING TRUCKING COMPANY – “ADOPTED HIGHWAY” (Quintet, dong progressive originals).

HALIE LOREN – “SIMPLY LOVE” (Female vocalist, with a straight-ahead, mixed-bag of tunes).

STEPHEN McQUARRY TRIO – “AZURE” (Nice, straight-ahead piano trio, doing all originals).

NEW WEST GUITAR GROUP – “BIG CITY” (Guitar trio, doing straight-ahead originals and new standards).

MANUEL VALERA & NEW CUBAN EXPRESS – “EXPECTIVAS” (Pianist, doing mostly straight-ahead originals, with latin rhythms.  On the edgy side).

DICK WELLER – “TUNES REMEMBERED” (Drummer, with sax and organ, re-imagining mostly pop songs from the 60’s).
