  • Mission Bay Preservationists- JFG 2020 Concert Series - The Mission Bay Preservationists, from Mission Bay High School, are known as one of the finest traditional youth jazz bands in the country and have played prestigious gigs like Preservation Hall, WWOZ Radio, The Old U.S. Mint Performance Hall in New Orleans, The House of Blues and here at the KSDS, Jazz 88.3 studios. Beginning in February they are resuming their The Japanese Friendship Concert Series  which will take place at Balboa Park's Japanese Friendship Garden and is held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month February-April (1st and 3rd Thursday in May). All monies raised will go towards supporting the music progam at Mission Bay High School. Click here to support them!

This concert will be the album release of 'Dialogue' AND Christopher's 50th Birthday so it's not to be missed. The show is only for valid Jazz 88 members. San Diego Jazz and Blues Calendar Highlights for Wednesday, January 22 through Tuesday, January 28, 2020


KSDS Fundraising Concert- The Cookers - On Saturday, February 22nd The Cookers come to the Saville Theatre for this one-time only KSDS Fundraising Event! This is truly a band of Bebop Heavyweights-Billy Harper, tenor sax, Cecil McBee, bass, George Cables, piano, Eddie Henderson, trumpet, Donald Harrison, alto sax, David Weiss, trumpet and Billy Hart, drums. A pair of tickets to this special concert are only $88.30 (single tickets available for $45). NOTE: If you already have tickets (from our Year-End Pledge Drive) your name will be at the Will Call the night of the show. Also, you can park in Lot 8 for free (no parking pass required). Please pick up your tickets no later than 7:30pm the night of the show. To reserve tickets please call 619-388-3301 or e-mail us at info@jazz88.org. But, hurry, this show is sure to sell out!     • Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center - The Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center is presenting "Klezmer Buenos Aires," Wednesday January 29th at 7:30PM at the David and Dorothea Garfield Theatre. Direct from Argentina, this brilliant duo presents a stellar blend of klezmer, Argentinian folk music, tango and jazz improvisation. Tickets can be purchased here.

    • Camarada 2019-2020 Season - Jazz 88.3 has partnered again with Camarada for their 2019-2020 season! The season continues with Look of Love, February 2 (6:30PM) at the Museum of Photographic Arts in the heart of Balboa Park. Featuring Peter Sprague (guitar and arrangements) and Coral MacFarland Thuet (voice, guitars, flute, bass, drums) this concert includes a mix of some Brazilian classics, some Burt Bacharach compositions (dressed up with that cool Sergio Mendes flavor of pop and samba), plus Brasil 66’s unique sonic vision of The Beatles “Fool On the Hill.” It’ll be a wonderful evening looking to Brazil, a musical look of love. The series continues with Fandango at the Wall: Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro Lating Jazz Orchestra, Saturday, March 14th (8PM) at Copley Symphony Hall. Continuing the tradition of cross-cultural exploration pioneered by his famous bandleader father (the late “Chico” O’Farrill), modern Afro-Cuban jazz master Arturo O’Farrill is on a mission to strengthen the bridge of musical solidarity spanning across Cuba, the U.S. and his native Mexico.
